This book is based on the Report of the New York Agricultural Experiment Station for the Year 1903. A detailed study into the classification, adaptation, and varieties of apples in New York. With reference to different regions for growing and an index to the technical terminology. Written by Spencer Ambrose Beach, an American botanist and experimental horticulturalist recognized as the first breeder to cross-pollinate grapes, N. O. Booth, and O. M. Taylor, American botanists. Volume one is illustrated with a color frontispiece, nine figures, forty-one half-tone plates, and eighty-eight color plates.

Volume I

The book is in good condition and bound in green cloth with a gilt title and an image of apples on the front panel and spine. The spine and board's edges have slight fraying, bumping, and rubbing. The owner's name, "Frank M. Booth, Eden N.Y.," is on the front pastedown. There is also a stamp on the half-title that states, "Compliments of Samuel J. Ramsperger, Senate 49th district." The text block has some scattered foxing. Thoroughly illustrated with texted figures, half-toned and colored plates. The binding is cracked in the middle of the book but otherwise secure.

Volume II

This is an incomplete volume. Please note that since this book is incomplete, it will be included with Volume I. Bound in green cloth with a gilt title and an image of apples on the front panel and spine. The spine and board's edges have slight fraying, bumping, and wear to the extremities. The owner's name, "Frank M. Booth, Eden N.Y.," is on the front pastedown. There is also a stamp on the half-title that states, "Compliments of Samuel J. Ramsperger, Senate 49th district." The text block has some scattered foxing. There are missing pages between pages [14 - 19]. The plate with Bietigheimer between pages fourteen and nineteen was tipped in. In addition, pages [47 - 50] were also tipped in. Otherwise, the binding is secure.
