This is important work long valued as a research tool as well as a pictorial insight into the past that was available to the residents of the area. Through the sponsorship of the Heritage & Genealogical Society of Montgomery County, a reprinting was ordered and made available in August 1979. The original work was a masterpiece of the engraver's art featuring 70 pages of plates pictured the scenes and the people of the area. The text includes the history of the Mohawk Valley, the development of the area, the construction of two counties, and informative and historical articles on each and every town, village, and settlement.
