Heaven and Hell / Workbook DBA / Volume One Issue One / 2001
By Alexis Scott
The photographers and illustrators who appear in this book were intentionally offered little in the way of creative direction. They were given the title, Heaven and Hell, and the suggestion of contrast. The wide range of response is fascinating. Some images and ensuing relationships are obvious; others are hidden or suggestive, but all reveal something more about the creative mind behind them. As John Milton wrote in Paradise Lost, "The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven."
