Book: Good. Dust jacket: None. The book's boards are embossed, illustrated, and with a gilded title on the cover and spine. The boards and spine have chips, fraying, scuffs, and bumping. The text block edges have discoloration and foxing. The inner text block has tanning and foxing. There is heavy foxing on the front pastedown, endpapers, and front page with Gaskell's image. The binding is cracked at the front hinge and near the end of the book. The owner's inscription and date are on the front endpapers in ink. The pages remain intact with no missing pages and are unmarked.
