Washington Irving Works / 5 volumes / Sleepy Hollow Edition / 1883
by Washington Irving
Washington Irving has long been considered one of the premier American short-story authors of the 19th century. His works, such as Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, have been a staple in the fixture of American classics. Many of Irving's historical works are considered to be the best of a genre, such as The Alhambra and Conquest of Granada, both of which are included in this set of works of Irving. Works included in these volumes include:
Life of Columbus
Astoria
Bonneville
Salmagundi
Mahomet
Goldsmith
Moorish Chronicles
The Alhambra
Conquest of Granada
Conquest of Spain:
Spanish Voyages
Tales of a Traveler
Abbotsford
Wolferts Roost
Book Condition: Good. Dust Jacket: None.
Five-volume set. Dark green cloth with black & gilt decoration. "Sleepy Hollow Edition" stamped in gilt on the front board and on the spine tail of each volume. All volumes are complete but with readily apparent defects: fragile/cracked binding, board covers rubbed, noticeably bumped corners and foredge of the text block, and frayed board corners. The text block pages are age-darkened; otherwise, pages are clean, with the exception of one volume with a previously erased name on the page. The volume of The Alhambra has a loose title page.
